An Airbnb With a View

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Lugano, or are even just in need of some travel inspiration, I can highly recommend the Airbnb we chose for our weekend away.

Situated on a winding road up the mountainside, it is probably wise that you hire a car to get there - although there is a bus if this isn't something you want to do. Either way, make the effort to get up there and you will be rewarded by the majestic view.

View from the terrace on our arrival

Run by published writer Corinne Hofmann (The White Masai among others) the apartment is filled with African inspired decor and it is just wonderful. From trinkets such as a leopard shaped teapot and safari inspired espresso cups, to the artwork displayed around the flat, each carefully curated item is a joy to look at.

Finding time to read

The apartment comprised a studio bedroom/ lounge and Corinne was more than happy to put up a travel cot with bedding and a highchair for our use - a real bonus when you are trying to travel as light as possible with a small person in tow (can anyone shed light on why they actually need more stuff than a travelling circus??)

Corinne was an incredibly welcoming host, explaining everything on our arrival and then leaving us to it with a bottle of prosecco (just what we needed!) and some other goodies - available at a small cost - such as wine, beer and a bowl full of fruit. She even made a fuss of Jude, who was miserable from the journey and full of snot with gunky eyes. What a woman!

The weather was freezing cold when we stayed but we still managed to appreciate the magnificent view, and thanks to snuggly blankets, the huge terrace can be enjoyed all year round.

For those of you who have never used an Airbnb, I urge you to give it a go. We have had some fabulous experiences and stayed in some fabulous places. This was up there with the best of them... and thanks to a grumpy child who refused to sleep we saw far more of the place than we expected!
